Training Tips

When you receive your copy of the song, let your child know that you'll be playing this song each time they use the potty properly. Then let them hear the song.
Give your child plenty of opportunity to use "the chair". With our kids we would set a timer and have them try to "go" every sixty minutes or so. With a timer ring, go and do your thing.
Each time your child actually goes potty, play/sing the song for them. Dance around, clap your hands, be crazy, and celebrate while the song's playing. This is big! The more you encourage your child, the more they'll want to produce the same results. Start anew when they go number one or number two.

    Helpful Hints

  • Have The Potty Song accessible via Computer, CD player, MP3 player, or whatever will allow you to get the song playing within minutes of your child using the potty.

  • If the song isn't available to play, just sing a little or all of it with your child. It's easy to learn and lasts about a minute tops. You don't need to go crazy in public, but it helps to be consistent.

  • Be sure to celebrate with/for your child. This is important. Even if you feel a little foolish, remember that this is a big step for them and you're cheering them on. This is not the area to scrimp on.
